Come and explore!

The Yorkshire Dales, located in central Northern England, is renowned for its stunning natural beauty, encompassing hills, valleys, moorlands, woodlands and rivers, punctuated by the distinctive centuries-old dry stone walls, typical of the region.

Perfect for couples, friends, or a family holiday, there is much to see and do. Whether you enjoy adventure and outdoor pursuits, or prefer a more relaxed holiday, visiting places of interest, there is something for everyone here. My personal guides created from my own experiences are also available in the cottage, to help you plan your days out if you need help.

The nearby award winning high street shops of Pateley Bridge offer everything you might need for your stay and also welcome dogs and muddy walking boots!

Tucked away in the Nidd valley, a mile and a half outside of the small town of Pateley Bridge, lies the magnificent Grade II listed Glasshouses Mill,
a former flax and rope mill, built in the 1800s and now transformed
into luxury accommodation, on the banks of the river Nidd, by
the rather impressive mill dam.

Flax Mill Cottage, a beautiful 2 bedroom, sleeps 4, self catering cottage, forms a part of this development. Original beams and artefacts retained within the development offer glimpses into the mill's past and contrast beautifully with the modern fixtures and fittings. In keeping with the spirit of the development, the cottage has been furnished with a mix of modern and traditional furniture, to create a cosy and welcoming cottage
for you to enjoy.

We are dog friendly and welcome up to two small/med sized dogs, possibly three (please enquire). The area is fantastic for dog walks and the local shops and cafes are very dog friendly.

Glasshouses Dam

A few steps from the cottage leads to the water's edge of the River Nidd and Glasshouses Dam, which once fed the mill. Now a haven for wildlife, this tranquil stretch of water hosts a variety of birds - Mute swans, geese, coots, grebes, moorhens... and of course ducks... there are lots of ducks!
You'll find a small bag of duck food in the cottage, if you wish to feed the ducks.
if you are very lucky, you may see a Kingfisher, or the occasional otter too! Away from the water, deer, hares, barn owls and birds of prey also frequent the local area.

Part of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and also the International Dark Sky Reserve, the area is full of interest and has something to offer nature lovers, walkers, dog owners, history enthusiasts and anyone seeking a relaxing escape in a spectacular rural landscape.
